"Atithi Devo Bhava" ,

"Atithi Devo bhava" This is a very old sanskrit saying, but do we really know the meaning ?

With India reaching in top seven preffered destinations of the world, it becomes our duty to give our atithis (tourists)  a true warm indian treatment. However we often see these tourist take a bad memory of our country.

We put up some of the points that we generaly do when we see a "firangi" walk by :

1.    we stare at them ?
2.    we laugh at them ?
3.    we tease them ?
4.    we overcharge them ?
5.    we abuse them in our language ?
6.    we point them to wrong directions ?

 When actually we should have done is this :

1.  Greet them with a smile (accompanied with a  "Namaste")?

2.  Ask them if they need help ? 

3.  Guide them to their destination and suggest a few more?

4.  Protect them from beggars ?

5.  Save them from touts ?

6.  Help them communicate with locals who do not understand english ?

Remember these few things whenever wherever you see a tourist. The impression they take now, will live on with them for quite some time.

The choice is yours. It’s your India, it should be your responsibility!!

Incredible india !!

We are the seventh most preferred tourist destination ...and guess why ?

Our India not only rose from 13th level last year to seventh in 2010 , the achievement is more then to be celebrated as we got it because of "the warmth of the people and its hospitality".

We the people of India should be proud of this achievement , because it reflects our cultural roots...our country has everything from sandy beaches to snow covered mountains yet our tourism was never promoted till now. Governments caption "Atithi Devo Bhavo" has tried to create an awareness among people to be more respectful towards foreigners and not stare at them or make fun of them, instead help them , protect them against notorious elements so that when they go back they take with them not only the beauty of our country but also its people....!!
