New India .....from what we saw at CWG opening ceremony ....

In the midst of all the Common wealth opening ceremonyy and activities, one moment that caught our eye was the biggest applause that Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam a great scientist, visionary and our beloved ex-president received. This applause echoed the Indian need for educated leaders . It was an emotional moment of sorts for every country men with the former President of India getting more applause then even our current Prime minister or president. We all know in our hearts how much we need such people at the top of our Democracy. Its a pity though that, Just like him, such truthful people often are not given space in Indian politics.

Another thing we would like to mention is the cheer the Indian spectators gave to our neighbors Pakistan and Bangladesh. They were welcomed with great warmth and roar thus portraying a new India, a mature India who believes in peace and friendship…

CWG, Delhi 2010- Anticipation grows!!!!!!!!!!

Some fantastic and good news finally for the CWG committee .....

England’s chef de mission Craig Hunter was all praise for the arrangements. In his own words" The Commonwealth Games Village here is better than the Beijing Olympics," also adding that the Delhi Games would set a high standard for the hosts of London Olympics 2012.

Add to this ,the World double trap shooting record-holder Ronjan Singh Sodhi CWG Games 2010 Delhi, will compare with the best in the world.

We or the media have always criticized the Delhi government. For once we get good news and good review of our “village”. Looks like finally things are falling in place for the CWG committee, with rains going away and major projects/stadiums complete.

We should be optimistic, that in spite of an image of “losers” our government might just come out victorious.
These pictures give us an idea of the standard of the venues.

The modern designs are in no way less than any developed country’s’.  All we need to do now is support our government in whatever they ask of us !!

We might indeed be hosts to very successful games !!

Common Weath games 2010 : A small suggestion to our government

We have been working so hard to get ready to host the CWG 2010. Everywhere we read about how the budget has gone up to almost Rs.28000 Cr. I am sure after spending so much money and giving employment to so many people, you are the best judge of things.

Somehow living in Delhi and being a responsible citizen for over 20 years now this idea struck me as to why don't we declare holidays for Delhi area wise during the games. Two days holiday for each area. for example :

how about we give Thursday and Friday a holiday for all south Delhi and Monday and Tuesday a holiday for central Delhi and so on, Wouldn't it mean lots of saving on Traffic chaos. People sitting at home enjoying CWG in the luxury of their home ? Or for that matter some might even leave the city for a holiday .... good for the games/city or for that matter tourism ?
