We have been working so hard to get ready to host the CWG 2010. Everywhere we read about how the budget has gone up to almost Rs.28000 Cr. I am sure after spending so much money and giving employment to so many people, you are the best judge of things.
Somehow living in Delhi and being a responsible citizen for over 20 years now this idea struck me as to why don't we declare holidays for Delhi area wise during the games. Two days holiday for each area. for example :
how about we give Thursday and Friday a holiday for all south Delhi and Monday and Tuesday a holiday for central Delhi and so on, Wouldn't it mean lots of saving on Traffic chaos. People sitting at home enjoying CWG in the luxury of their home ? Or for that matter some might even leave the city for a holiday .... good for the games/city or for that matter tourism ?
This whole CWG is gonne be a big chaos for the delhites, i think its gonne do us proud.(well...almost).
ReplyDeleteI felt the government should have oraganised it in different parts of india rather then concentrating on One city. Beijing olympics were held in 2-3 cities of china.
anyways as a lay man, i am happy with the timely development of the city, who cares about the CWG, we have had quite a few embarassing movements in our history,So why worry so much about the games ?
I know that construction and development of various facilities is in full swing and with the heavy rains the work has become even harder but my question is will this nation have wait for some games to happen before it embarks on the journey of development. what was the Delhi government doing these past ten years?
ReplyDeleteTen years ? Y ten years, there has been not much development except for last 2 yrs when the government woke upto the games. I think its a very good suggestion by your site my friend... it shld really help !!
ReplyDeleteNow they have painted the roads blue. Isn't that like chickening away from the problem ? There is a hefty penalty on people moving in those blue lanes ? lol. It seems all delhi govt can do is to force its citizens to do the unpredictable.
ReplyDeletePeople are still waiting for there notification on the movment of commercial goods vehicles . with less then a month to go, not even our CM knows a thing.
In Beijing olympics they had this rule that "EVEN" numbered cars will come out on roads and on the next day "ODD" number cars can comeout.
ReplyDeleteAM sure this trick won't help delhi , with people holding 3-4 cars each home. But still am sure even we can get innovative.
We are now hearing that Sadar bazaar association has declared a 15 days holiday ? how true is that we will know in coming days but i think most of us wuld agree that HOLIDAYS is the only solution.
