For a nation where cricket is religion and Tendulkar God, to make a mark in a different field and yet be recognized and applauded must feel really good. Yes our nation is finally ready to recognize and accept that there are other sports which are as entertaining and rewarding as cricket. (Taking nothing away from cricket)

These names are not only internationally recognized but are now household names in our country too. True it will take a lot of time for a nation which sleeps cricket, drinks cricket and eats cricket to encourage other sports too but still I think an effort has been started.
Individual category Games are increasingly becoming popular with the youth. With a little awareness, a push from the government in the form of better opportunities and infrastructure for various sports and schools and parents giving equal importance to every sporting activity, we are sure to shine in every category of games.
Three Cheers to India… Three Cheers to Us!!
Agreed that now we have Indians trying their hand in different sporting activities but still a lot has to be done by the government and society in terms of infrastructure and also recognition. For. e.g hockey despite being our national sport is way behind and i don't recall our hockey team ever winning an international tournament after Dhyanchand....
